At Modern Angels Healthcare, caring for others is more than the work we do, it is who we are. As a Canadian home-care provider serving communities across southern Ontario, we are built on compassion, dignity, and the belief that every person deserves to feel safe, valued, and supported.
Our team is proudly diverse, and many of our caregivers, nurses, and support staff are Filipinos whose families and loved ones remain in the Philippines. As they continue to provide exceptional care here at home, their hearts are with those affected abroad. In this season of reflection and generosity, we feel a deep responsibility to stand beside our employees and the families and friends who have endured unimaginable loss.
We are reaching out today because thousands of families are facing severe and ongoing hardship after Typhoon Kalmaegi, which struck the central Philippines in early November 2025. The storm brought catastrophic winds and deadly flooding that destroyed homes, swept communities away, and displaced hundreds of thousands of people.
The human toll has been staggering. Early reports confirm at least 114 lives lost and 127 missing in the Philippines alone, many in Cebu, one of the hardest-hit provinces. Entire communities have been left without food, clean water, medical care, or safe shelter. More than half a million people have been left without the basic necessities required for survival. As we gather with our own families this holiday season, we are reminded that the true spirit of the holidays is not found in receiving; it is found in giving from the heart. It is found in extending kindness beyond our own walls, especially to those who feel forgotten in their greatest time of need.
That is what care truly means.
It is the comfort of a warm meal, the hope of a safe place to sleep, the dignity of medical support when everything else has been lost.
To stand with our staff, support their families abroad, and provide relief to the communities suffering the most, Modern Angels Healthcare has launched an urgent GoFundMe campaign to deliver life-saving essentials: emergency shelter, nutritious meals, clean water, warm clothing, and medical support. All donated funds and all donated goods will be provided directly to the area in Cebu that has been most severely affected. Your contribution, no matter the amount, can offer comfort, stability, and hope to families who have lost everything.
We kindly ask that donations be made by January 31, 2026.
